HOW WE WORK

Engagement, estimates and fees

You should know what a piece of work involves before you commit to it. This page sets out how an engagement starts and how charges are handled.

What happens after you get in touch?

  1. A confidential conversation

    You describe the situation in general terms. We ask what material exists, what question you need answered and any deadline you face.

  2. Scoping

    Together we agree what will be examined, which method suits it and what the report needs to cover.

  3. An estimate

    You receive an estimate before any work starts, so you can decide whether to go ahead.

Initial consultations are without obligation; charges apply only once work begins.

Timing

It depends on the case; we give an estimate before work begins. The volume of material, the condition of the items and the number of questions all affect how long the work takes, so timing is discussed during scoping.

A clearer picture at the start usually means a firmer estimate. These details help:

  • what the items are, and roughly how many there are;
  • the question you need answered, in your own words;
  • any hearing, filing or business deadline you are working to;
  • whether anyone has already examined or handled the material.

Data recovery terms

No recovery, no fee: if we cannot recover the data you need, you do not pay for the recovery work. Terms and conditions apply and are stated transparently before work begins.

We aim to give an initial assessment within 6 hours and a free diagnosis within 24 hours, depending on workload and the condition of the device.

Stop using a failing drive and leave it alone until it has been assessed. Repeated attempts to power it up can make recovery harder. If a phone may be needed as evidence, ask us before switching it off.

Practical arrangements

  • NDA on request, signed before you share sensitive material.
  • Remote consultations on request, if travelling to Nairobi is difficult.
  • Questions about the estimate are welcome at any stage before you agree to it.

Questions

Do you charge for a first consultation?

No. Initial consultations are without obligation; charges apply only once work begins.

Can you tell me the price over the phone?

We can talk through the likely scope, but the estimate comes after we understand the material and the questions involved.

Do I have to come to Nairobi for a consultation?

No. Remote consultations are available on request, so a first discussion can take place wherever you are.
